Guardian | Six Bells Colliery, Wales
AbouT Guardian
2009-10 | The Guardian came about as the result of a competition to design a memorial commemorating the 50th anniversary of a major pit disaster at the 6 Bells Colliery on the 28th June 1960 in which 45 men were killed. The work stands at over 20 metres tall and is fabricated in Corten steel. It is located directly on the former colliery site and gazes towards the town of Six Bells and Abertillery, South Wales.
